Judge Sotomayor - Domestic Enemy of the Constitution

The Senate will soon vote on the confirmation of Judge Sonia Sotomayor. Judge Sotomayor has repeatedly shown a disdain for our rights, especially those confirmed by the Second Amendment.

Using the FAX All Senators page at FaxYourOpinion.com I have sent a FAX to all US Senators with the following message. If you feel the same way, please let your Senators know. Feel free to cut and paste any of the following (except my name and address!) into your message.

Dear Senator [name added automatically]

I urge you to vote AGAINST the confirmation of Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the
Supreme Court.

Our Bill of Rights confirms certain rights that all United States citizens
possess.

In Maloney v. Cuomo Judge Sotomayor claimed that the Second Amendment gives
citizens no rights with respect to state or local laws. Judge Sotomayor
offered no explanation or justification for this extreme view.

Surprisingly, Judge Sotomayor's opinion was written after the Supreme Court
ruling in the District of Columbia v. Heller case in which the Court
confirmed that the Second Amendment protects an individual right.

Imagine if a state or local government attempted to take away a citizen's
right of free speech (First Amendment) or their right to a jury trial
(Seventh Amendment). Any such regulation would immediately be seen as
improper and would be struck down.

Allowing a local government to take away a citizen's right of self defense,
as Judge Sotomayor allowed in her ruling, is equally wrong.

In taking your oath of office you swore that you "will support and defend
the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and
domestic ..."

Judge Sotomayor is a domestic enemy of our Constitution.

Uphold your oath of office and vote AGAINST the confirmation of Judge
Sotomayor to the Supreme Court.

Sincerely yours,
